Abstract

ABSTRACT

Wirda Yuli Fardila (321510003): Improving Students Reading Comprehension by
Using Silent Card Shuffle (A Classroom Action Research to the Seventh Grade
Student of MTs Negeri 1 Bunut Hilir in the Academic Year of 2019/2020)
This research aimed to find out how Silent Card Shuffle Strategycan
improve students’ reading comprehension. This researcher was conducted through
classroom action research (CAR) design. The subject of this research was the
students of class seventh of MTs Negeri 1 Bunut Hilir consisted 26 students.
This research used observation and measurement as a technique of data
collection. The tools of data collection were observation checklist, field note, and
reading test. Then, the data analysis used in this research was qualitative data
analysis to analyze qualitative data and quantitative data to analyze the
quantitative data.
The result of this research showed that Silent Card Shuffle Strategy could
improve students” reading comprehension. It could increase students;
achievement in reading comprehension, and the students’ progress in attitude
toward english lesson especially in reading. The students’ actively involved in
teaching and learning process. It proved that Silent Card Shuffle Strategy improve
students’ reading comprehension in two cycles. The students score in first cycle
was 56,15 and the second cycle is 72,5
Based on the research findings, it could be implied that Silent Card Shuffle
Strategy is one the effective strategy that can be used for teaching strategy in
teaching and learning activity. Therefore, the researcher suggest to the teacher
apply Silent Card Shuffle Strategy in teaching reading as on of strategy in
teaching reading comprehension.
