Abstract
This study aimed to slove the problems found in the preliminary study. Those problems what was found at SMP Borneo Bengkayang was that students still lacked vocabulary,were embarrassed to speak, and afraid of making mistakes. This research focuses on improving students’ speaking skills by using picture media. This research uses the type of Classroom Action Research (PTK).Researcher collaborate with English teacher as collaborator. Observation and tests are used to collect data. The research results showed that, there is improvement of students’
speaking skills. This is shown by the students’ scores in four speaking sesions namely Grammar, Fluency, Pronunciation, and Vocabulary. This is study used two cycle. Each cycle has two meeting. The findings of this study did not provide the same results every cycle. The findings of this study were after researcher use picture media, it really helps students to improve their speaking skills. It can be concluded that the use of picture media can effectively improve students’ speaking skills.
