Abstract

This classroom action research was motivated by the students' low English reading ability.
This research aims to improve the results of students' English reading skills on the subject of
descriptive texts in cycles 1 and 2, using the image learning media method. This research was
carried out in class X at SMAN 1 Sukadana. The type of research used is Classroom Action
Research with two cycles consisting of two meetings in one cycle, each cycle consisting of:
planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques and tools in this
research use descriptive analysis techniques for data in the form of result documents. student
work, score lists, field notes and observation sheets. Qualitative data was obtained from
observations and field notes, while quantitative data was obtained from the results of students'
reading tests. The results of the research show that with the image media method, there is a
pleasant learning atmosphere so that student learning outcomes increase, namely from the results
of cycle I to Cycle II there is an increase, in cycle 1 the number of students who got a complete
score was 2 students or a complete score in cycle 1 was 21 students , while in cycle 2 there was
an increase in the completion score, namely to 21 students or increased. It was concluded that the
picture media method could improve the results of English reading comprehension abilities.
