Abstract

This study aims to find out the factors that influence students in learning English at SMP Negeri 2 Sajingan Besar for the academic year 2021/2022. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview, what are the problems of students in learning English and what factors affect students in learning English.
In this research, the researcher used a quantitative descriptive method. In this researcher used two kinds of techniques in collecting the data. The first is observation and the second is a questionnaire. To analyze the data, the researcher used Microsoft excel and SPSS version 25
from the questionnaire.
The main factors that influence the students in learning English came from the internal factor that was interest and external factors was family and facility. This means that the first thing to note is student interest in learning. The second is a family, which means that most students had not received the support, attention, guidance, and supervision of their parents. The last is school facilities are various kinds of facilities and infrastructure provided by schools that could be used properly by students.
