ABSTRACT
Ramananda, M.A (2020). A Genre Pedagogy to Teaching English to
Forth Graders in Kampung Inggris Parit Baru. Main Supervisor: Dr.
Aunurrahman, M.Pd. Assistant Supervisor: Sahrawi, M.Pd.
This research is descriptive qualitative that is aimed to find out how is
application of genre pedagogy in teaching English to forth graders in Kampung
Inggris Parit Baru. Genre Pedagogy is also noun as Genre Based Approach, A
class consists of twenty-seventh participants that was chosen purposefully as
sample. The data were collected by participant observation, fieldnote and
worksheet. This research was conducted during the learning process. This
research lasted for four meetings.
Teaching and learning process was applied by four stages of genre
pedagogy, those are building knowledge, modelling, joint construction and
independent construction. During the learning process, observation was done by
collecting worksheets. The data was analysed using thematic analysis to analyse
fieldnote and text was analysed using functional grammar. As a result was
triangulated to validate the data. The finding described student interest in learning
English.
Descriptive research is research that attempts to describe a symptom, event,
incident that is happening at this time. Descriptive research focuses on problems
that actually exist at the time of the research. Researcher try to describe events and
incidents that are the center of attention without giving special treatment to these
events. The variable under study can be single (one variable) can also be more and
one variable.
The purpose of descriptive research is to produce an accurate picture of a
group, describe the mechanisms in a process or relationship, provide a complete
picture in research, present basic information on a relationship, create a set of
categories and classify research subjects, describe a set of stages or processes.
Descriptive research is used to describe various aspects of this phenomenon. In its
format, descriptive research is used to describe population characteristics and
sample behavior.
