Yohana Rosses Baik, 2019. An Analysis of DRTA Strategy in Reading
Comprehension (A Descriptive Study on the
Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Karya Budi
Putussibau in the Academic Year of 2018/2019
This research aimed to investigate DRTA strategy in students’ reading
comprehension and interpreted students’ perspective toward DRTA strategy
especially in Explanation Text Material. This research is using a descriptive study
method. This descriptive study involved thirty four students from class XI MIPA.
This descriptive study applied three treatment stages of using DRTA as the
learning strategy of the research. The instruments that are used in this research are
reading test, interview and observation.
Based on the finding of the research it is found out that the implementation
of DRTA strategy indeed gave effect toward students’ reading comprehension.
This can be seen from the test results and students’ interview and observation.
Therefore, it could be concluded that DRTA strategy indeed gave effect toward
students’ reading comprehension especially in explanation text material. The
researcher recommended this strategy as part of teaching reading comprehension
due to the effect size level and also due to limitation further research is needed in
order to gather more precise data and evidence of using DRTA as a strategy in
teaching reading comprehension.
