The research is entitledThe Use of Fun Board to Improve Reading
Comprehensionof the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Sompak In
Academic Year 2015/2016. This research is intended to find out how Fun Board
can improve the tenth grade students’ reading comprehension. Besides, it also
seeksto know whathappen to the tenth grade when Fun Board is implemented to
teach reading in SMA N 1 Sompak.
This research belongs to classroom action research (CAR). Classroom
Action Research is oneclassroom research is an act undertaken by teachers, to
enhance their own or a colleague’s teaching, to test the assumptions of educational
theory in practice, or as a means of evaluating and implementing whole school
priorities. The researcher used observation, field note and measurements to
collectingthe data. In this research the reseacher usedqualitative and quantitave
approachto analyze the data.
After conducting the research, the researcher found some research
findings. The data showed that the students made improvement in reading
comprehension. By implementing Fun Board in teaching learning process of
reading, the student had the chance to be active and cooperative in teaching and
learning process. By teaching reading by using Fun Board, the score gained by the
students improved. It can be seen that the students got mean 67 in pre-research. In
pre-research, the students did not use Fun Board. By using Fun Board in the
cycles, there is improvement. In cycle 1, the mean score of students was 73 and
there were somestudentswhodid not pass the passing grade 70. It improved in
cycle 2 where students got mean score 80 and all students passed the passing
grade. In short, Fun Board can improve tenth grade students’ reading
comprehension
