Abstract
This research aimed to find out the implementation of genre-based approach (GBA) toward English village program in Parit Nanas Pontianak. This research used case study research. The population of the research was the students from English Village of Parit Nanas. The sample was selected using purposeful sampling.
Tools of Data Collection used in this study were interviews and field notes. Interview is a tool as a process of information for research purposes by means of question and answer while face to face between the researcher and the
object of research. The data analysis technique that are carried out is text analysis using a thematic analysis. There are several stages in thematic analysis, namely
understanding the data, looking for codes, and looking for themes.
The results of the data analysis revealed that the application of a genre-based approach to teaching English provided some benefits for students. There were positive changes seen in the students, especially in their motivation to learn English during the activity. In addition, the provision of various materials also makes students not easily bored. this is because the teacher applies GBA
interactively which makes students more relaxed in the learning process.
