Abstract

This study aims to investigate the challenges and strategies faced by the English Education Study Program of preservice teacher in teaching practice at IKIP PGRI Pontianak. This study uses a descriptive qualitative. The data collection is interview. Interviews were conducted with seventh semester English education students who had carried out teaching practice at school, who were selected using a simple random sampling. Researchers used thematic analysis. The results showed that respondents gave a positive response to teaching practice as evidenced by the large number of respondents who felt happy in teaching practice, but some also felt demotivated. In addition, preservice teacher also experienced various challenges in carrying out teaching practice, but these challenges could be overcome with the strategies they had.
