Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation and challenges of the studi independen program. In implementing the studi independen program in Parit Baru Village, Kubu Raya Regency the studi independen program lasted for 4 months and was implemented by 7th semester students as tutors from the English Education Department. The reason for this service is the introduction of
the MBKM Curriculum (Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka) in the form of an studi independen program. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. To obtain data, researcher used direct communication and observation techniques. The data collection tools used are interviews, observation sheets, and documents. The subjects of this research are 7th year students of IKIP PGRI Pontianak or can
be called tutors who teach in the educational assistance program in studi independen at Parit Baru Village in Kubu Raya Regency. To analyzed the data, the researcher made a text transcript of the observation results and interview
recordings, after that the researcher explaining to analysis the result of observation and interview. The results showed that the implementation of the studi independen program was considered successful. All participants completed all the activities that had been arranged by the lecturer who guided the implementation of this program, There is also a negative side. Limitations. In terms of challenges during the program, all tutors faced various challenges. The challenges faced by the tutors were inconsistent attendance of the students, lack of adequate facilities for the implementation of teaching in this program. Another challenges was also the
students' interest in learning English, this only happened in the implementation of teaching in the independent study program in session 2. Finally, the tutors created a WhatsAPP group to exchange information between students and parents. The tutors also shared materials to the WhatsAPP group for students who were not present on that day. In addition, the tutors also brought media or facilities from their own homes to facilitate the process when teaching. This is done to minimize the challenges faced by the tutors. We can take the knowledge or information contained in this study, so that it can be used as evaluation material for the same program or other programs related to implementation in the teaching and learning process. Besides that, it is hoped that the readers will also gain knowledge about the flow or process of teaching implementation in the studi independen program
in the Parit Baru Village of Kubu Raya Regency.
