Abstract
This research focused on the Using Cooperative Script To Improve Students’ Reading Comprehension at the Eighth Grade Students of SMP N 10 Sungai Kakap in academic year of 2022/2023. The method of this research was a classroom action research (CAR) in which the researcher thought to solve the problems the students. The subject of this research was 24, 12 males and 12 females the VIII A class of SMP N 10 Sungai Kakap in academic year of 2022/2023.
Qualitative data shows that there is an increase in student behavior and activity in class during the teaching and learning process. Learning reading through Cooperative Script method can make the students to be active in the
teaching and learning process. They pay more attention to the lesson, listen to the teachers’ explanation, and active to think, during the teaching, and learning process.
The result of the research showed that there were any improvements in the students' reading comprehension and achievement. By using Cooperative Script students become more active and enthusiastic in participating in the teaching and learning process. Students become more active and students can easily understand text with text summaries using the Cooperative Script method. Reading test results and students achievement improved, which could be seen from the mean score of reading test in cycle 1 which was 56.45 and in the cycle 2 improved become 74.16. Cooperative Script made the classroom more active and made the students mean score enthusiastic in learning reading.
