Abstract
Presentation is one aspect of speaking or communicating in front of a large group of people to convey an idea, idea, material, or other things. In this study aim to find out What are the problems experienced by students in conducting
presentations activities using English, and what are the factors that influenced students'' problems in making presentations. In this study, researcher used direct and indirect communication techniques. Direct communication techniques are carried out through observation while indirect communication techniques are carried out using questionnaires. The population for this study was third semester students of the English Education Study Program, IKIP PGRI Pontianak, and then the number of samples that will be used is 62 students. Descriptive research uses a questionnaire to collect quantitative data. Then the researcher used a simple descriptive statistical analysis
to answer the research question. To analyze the data, the researcher obtain the average score of each strategy of all students.
Based on the results of research the researcher found the problem faced by students in conducting presentations activities using English at IKIP PGRI Pontianak is not mastering the material (M 3.19), the use of mother tongue (M
3.00), lack of vocabulary (M 2.99), grammar mistakes (M2.85), anxiety (M 2.78), fear of making mistakes (M 2.68), shyness (M 2.57), pronunciation mistakes (M 2.56), lack of self-confidence (M 2.53), nothing to say (M 2.26) and lack of preparation (M 2.27). The most dominant of problems faced by students in conducting presentation activities using English at IKIP PGRI Pontianak is not mastering the material and the presentation problem factor is lack of vocabulary
from students.
