Abstract

The purpose of this pre-experimental research was to know how is the effectiveness of team pair solo strategy in teaching rading comprehension. The research design was quantitative research with pre-experimental design. The
purpose of this pre-experimental research was to know how is the effectiveness of team pair solo strategy in teaching rading comprehension. The population in this research was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kuala Mandor B in the academic years of 2020/2021. The class was selected from the population as sample in this research was VIIIB class. The number of the students used as the sample in this research was 30 students. The sample was selected used cluster random sampling. The technique of data collecting was measurement technique.
The data were collected by applying pre-test and post-test using reading test. The students score on pre-test and post-test was analyzed by using SPSS version 16. The final computation shows that the effect size of the treatment was 0.22 (> 0.5) and considered effective enough. Additionally, Team Pair Solo Strategy in this research statistically also proved the effect of treatment reached modest effect category with the result of effect size (ES) analysis determined that the use of Team Pair Solo Strategy gave effect on student’s reading comprehension of recount text to the VIIIB grade students.
