Abstract
The purposes of the research aims to find out the implementation traditional song in teaching english to elementary school students in English village of Parit
Baru. Traditional songs as a media used to teach English villages in Parit Baru. This research used a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The
characteristic of case study is the used of a purposeful sampling technique to determine the case to be investigated. The data collection is carried out using more than one data collection technique consisting of observation, interviews,
field notes and document analysis techniques.
Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that by implementing the English Village program, it will be carried out using four stages in genre�based approach. This approach is an approach that helps students become more
competent in language. In this study, text introducing oneself also used to practice how students speak through the material while still being guided by the tutor by applying the stages in a genre-based approach. The results of field notes and student documents show that student songs can be used for teaching English to elementary school students. The used of traditional songs as a media in learning English makes the learning process more interesting, fun and enriching students' vocabulary. This research was conducted
to improve students' understanding of vocabulary taught through worksheet through non-formal education.
