Abstract
public of Indonesia (IKIP PGRI) Pontianak 2022.
This qualitative research was conducted to determine the practice of English in the English Village of Air Putih Village. The subjects of this study were students in a Primary School in Air Putih Village. The sample was selected
using purposeful sampling. The technique of data collection applied in this research were field notes and interviews. Field notes are used to obtain data in the process of teaching and learning activities in the English Village of Air Putih Village. Meanwhile, interviews were used to obtain direct information and to obtain detailed data about the practice in the English Village of Air Putih Village.
Based on the result of Field notes and interviews, it can be concluded that the use of genre pedagogy, explicit teaching, guidance, and learning materials in teaching helps students in learning English. The main conclusion of this study is that English language teaching in the English Village of Air Putih Village has been successful. During the teaching and learning process, the tutor always creates a pleasant learning atmosphere by teaching English material such
as teaching students to introduce themselves in English, teaching students to sing in English, and teaching students to read stories in English. The student response was very positive and the students were very enthusiastic about participating in the learning process in the English Village of Air Putih Village. This can be proven by the enthusiasm of students in answering questions from the tutor.
