Abstract

the researcher shown some conclusions based on the research finding and disscussion in the previous chapter. It was found that t –value higher than t-table, it means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the use of contextual guessing technique was effective to teach reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Sungai Tebelian in the academic year of 2017/2018. It could be seen from the calculation of the paired samples t-test that was used to test the hypothesis.
In spite of that, the calculation of the effect size from this research shown that contextual guessing technique was categorized has a moderate effect to teach reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Sungai Tebelian in the academic year of 2017/2018. Therefore, it can be concluded that contextual guessing technique did not give effect significantly to teach reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Sungai Tebelian in the academic year of 2017/2018 after the treatment of contextual guessing technique was applied to the class.
