This research discusses the ability of students in writing recount text at SMA PAK KASIH SIDAS. It is intended to describe students ability and difficulties faced by the students in writing recount text at SMA PAK KASIH SIDAS. This research was conducted using quantitative and qualitative methods, the main source of this research were all students of class X SMA PAK KASIH SIDAS with a total 27 students. Furthermore, this research used test and questionnaires as instruments.
The researcher concluded that 19 students was qualification good (70,38%). 7 students were qualification poor (3,70%). It can be concluded that the final calculiation with a score of 63,1 was categorized into good qualifiaction. The researcher found that difficulties faced by students when writing recount text that is : grammar of 45, 8%, vocabulary of 33,3%, form of 25, 9%, content of 7,4% and mechanic of 3,7%. Based on the results, the difficulties that students have the most in writing recount text aspects grammar and vocabulary.
