Abstract
The aim of this research was to know the interest and the factors that influencing interest in reading fanfiction of eleventh grade students of SMAS Wisuda Pontianak. Fanfiction is one of reading media uses by the teacher to increase students’ reading interest in English.
The research was conducted using qualitative research approach, and case study method, involving the 13 eleventh grade students as the subjects. The data were gathered from questionnaire and interviews. The findings of this research
found that 81,6% of 13 students have very high pleasure in reading fanfiction. The second, Analysis of Interview factors influencing students’ high reading interest from 6 students as sample it found factors that most influencing students are from awareness, motivation, and perception. Factors that less influencing are environment, internet, time allocation, language, and learning systems. Also in
between is library (Wattpad). The results of this research shall be a recommendation for teachers to use Fanfiction as a reading media by considering several aspects and factors so that it can become an effective learning media.
