Abstract

This study aims to analyze what are difficulties in reading comperhension. The research was conducted at the student seven grade in SMP 2 Teluk Keramat. In this study reseacher focused on analyzing several aspect that became difficulties for student. Data collection techique applied in this study was study the student use study the document and indirect communication. The insruments used are Student Document and Questionnaire. The test result showed that the sevent grade student at SMP 2 Teluk Keramat had difficulty in four aspect of reading comperhension, namely understanding and deriving meaning from teks, identfying and understanding vocabulary, making inferences, understanding the conteks of word in the text. The most challenging aspect for student was understanding and deriving meaning from teks 88.74, identfying and understanding vocabulary 94.74%, making Inferences 60%, and understanding the conteks of word in the
text 61.88%. The difficulties in reading comprehension was low. This is indicated that the student were still facing difficulties in reading comprehension, such as dificulty in process of decoding, limited vocabulary, and having no background information relating to the text. It means that they have problems in reading comprehension.
