Abstract

This research was conducted to finding out how the effectiveness of Picture Word Inductive model learning strategy on students' vocabulary achievement. This research used quantitative with experimental method. The researcher conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Kakap in the academic year 2022/2023 and the total population is 21 students at SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Kakap. For data collection, the researcher used vocabulary test to determine the application of vocabulary in students' comprehension in shopping list text. The results showed that the application of Picture Word Inductive Model was effective in learning vocabulary achievement of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Kakap.
This research was conducted in 3 stages namely pre-test, treatment, and Post-test. From the results of the used of the test on the mean score for the pre-test is 44.14 which is classified as "poor to moderate" Then the mean score for the post is 76.66 which is classified as "moderate to good". This shows that vocabulary teaching has a strong and significant effect on improving students' vocabulary achievement.
Based on the results of discussion it was found that PWIM ( Picture Word Inductive Model) was effective in teaching english vocablary to seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Kakap in the academic year of 2022/2023. It was found that these of Picture Word Inductive Model in teaching vocabulary on short functional text in form shopping list was effective indicated by the mean of pre-test ad post-test. The activities in applying Picture Word Inductive Model enabled students to actively participate in learning process and have better vocabulary achievement which could directly be observed from the result of the treatments, that the students were able to outscore significantly on the test after the strategy also helped to raise student interest in vocabulary activity shown by their positive response to the learning process when the treatmens were being conducted. It can be concluded that the use of Picture Word Inductive Model is effective in teaching vocabulay.
