Abstract
The primary objective of this study was to assess the influence of flashcard media in enhancing the vocabulary mastery of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 02 Sungai Kakap during the academic year 2023/2024. Employing a
classroom action research approach, the research encompasses both qualitative and quantitative data analyses. Qualitative data were derived from checklist observations and field notes recorded during the lessons, while quantitative data
analysis involved a test comprising 20 multiple-choice questions, 10 essay, and 10 oral questions. The research was conducted in two cycles, each comprising two meetings. For qualitative data analysis, used checklist observations and field notes, while for quantitative data analysis used tests. Qualitative data analysis showed an increase in better student behavior from cycle I to cycle II, and in class activity, students were more active in cycle II compared to cycle I. Quantitatively, the average student score in the cycle I test was 35 and increased to 76.34375 in the cycle II, in this case quantitative data analysis revealed that the use of flashcard media contributed to increasing students' mastery of English vocabulary.
So, it can be concluded that flashcard media can improve students' vocabulary mastery. Consequently, it is inferred that flashcard media can enhance students' vocabulary mastery. This research aimed to serve as a valuable resource for educators, students, and researchers exploring the application of flashcard media for vocabulary enhancement in learning processes.
