Abstract
This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of using posters in reading comprehension for descriptive text and to determine the success of an experiment using posters as a learning medium in reading comprehension for descriptive text to the seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Hulu. This research used a quantitative descriptive approach. and the data collection technique used is a measurement technique, namely a test, which consists of a pre�test and post-test with a multiple-choice question model. Data collection is carried out by giving a pre-test, then the researcher gives treatment, and after that the researcher gives a post-test. test. The subjects of this
research were seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Hulu for the 2023/2024 academic year, with a total of 224 students, with a research sample from class 7B with a total of 32 students. To analyze the data, researchers used descriptive analysis, normality, hypothesis, and effect size with the SPSS application. The research findings show
that students' use of posters in reading comprehension of descriptive text is declared effective because from the data processing results obtained the value of sig (2-tailed) is 0.000 < 0.005. it can be concluded that Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that the effectiveness of using poster media in reading comprehension for descriptive text to the seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Hulu shows a strong or effective influence.
