This study aimed to provide a description of: 1) How the rights and responsibilities of students are accommodated in schools and 2). How variations of rights and responsibilities of students in schools. This research involved 8 schools in West Kalimantan from 6 districts, including 2 schools in Sambas Regency, 2 schools in Melawi Regency, 1 school in Landak Regency, 1 school in Kubu Raya Regency, 1 school in Sanggau Regency, and 1 school in Pontianak City Regency. For 7 schools involving other researchers as non-participant observations and 1 school from participant observation.
The data analysis used in this study is descriptive qualitative, using thematic analysis and cross-case analysis techniques. The results showed that there were differences between schools regarding the rights and responsibilities of students in 8 schools which were influenced by student behavior so that some students did not carry out their responsibilities. The difference is that the rights and responsibilities of students at S3, S6 and S7 schools are very low where the responsibilities of some students are not carried out where in these 3 schools there are more students who have naughty and impolite behavior, while at S1, S2, S4, S5 and S8 schools the responsibilities of students have been carried out and implemented at school and the students strictly comply with applicable regulations and have discipline. This research is expected to provide a description of the implementation of the rights and responsibilities of students in 8 schools in West Kalimantan.
