Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of Partner Reading Strategy toward Students’ Reading Comprehension especially in Descriptive Text. This research is using a pre-Experimental method. It was conducted on Mei 2023 at
MTS Mathla’ul Anwar Pontianak and in this experiment it involved Twenty�Three Students from eight grade. This pre-experimental research applied three treatment stages of using Partner Reading Strategy as the learning strategy of
the research and the test is using multiple choices 25 items. Based on the finding of the data from both tests were analyzed by using Ms. Excel and SPSS Ver 16.0. The result of mean score revealed a significant improvement between pre-test and post-test. In pre-test, the experimental class
got mean score is 71,8260. In post-test, the experimental class got mean score is 82,4347. The pretest of Standard Deviation value is 12,5032 and the posttest Standard Deviation value is 5,5611. There is a significant different between pretest and posttest result. This is solely because the writer previously set the significance level at p < 0.005 and because the result from the Wilcoxon tests shows that the p value is lower than 0.005 it means that Ha is accepted and HO or null hypothesis is rejected. Therefore, it could be concluded that Partner Reading Strategy indeed gave effect toward students’ reading comprehension especially in descriptive text.
