Abstract

This study aimed to describe the use of digital multimodal texts in energizing students in learning English reading, specifically reading comprehension at the eighth-grade students of SMP N 06 SATAP Sepauk. The question answered in this research was: How can the Multimodal text implementation energize the students‟ reading comprehension? the study focuses on students of class VIII B to improve their ability to comprehend reading text.
Then, this investigation sheds light on students' behavior regarding the use of visuals included in the pre-reading text in the reading section. Indeed, these the data collection used in this research was direct communication of the observation technique taken from the observation checklist and fieldnotes considering the unconstrained behavior of members in an open or common environment and the
researchers used measurement techniques in the form of tests to measure students‟ reading comprehension. Where respectively the quantitative and qualitative data are then analyzed through quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis.
The result of the two cycles showed that using digital multimodal text could energize the students‟ reading comprehension and positively impact the class climate. When the details were elaborated from pre-observation 60 for
students‟ means scores, then followed first cycle one where the students‟ means scores met 63, 5 on average and class conditions were not conducive enough. While in the second cycle, focusing on students‟ reading comprehension ability
showed a significant improvement in students‟ mean scores reaching 71,6 followed; Students became more engaged and interactive in the learning process as a result of the visual media display, which improves the classroom
environment.In conclusion, the results of this study, the use of digital multimodal text can energize students in improving their ability to comprehend reading text. In
this study, the researcher suggests readers take lessons in this research as a basis for endeavoring teaching-learning in the future, especially in educational fields.
