Abstract
The purpose of this study was investigate how Flashcard can Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery And Motivation in the eight Grade Students of SMPN 03 Bengkayang. the researcher used a classroom action research method. The population of this study was eight grade A class of SMPN 03 Bengkayang
and the sample was consisted 29 students. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. The data collection technique in this study was used observation and measurement techniques. The instruments used are observation checklist, field note, questionnaire, and vocabulary test. The researcher gave the observation checklist and field notes in every cycle, vocabulary was used 2 times and the questionnaire was used 1 time after doing cycle 1 and cycle 2. Based on the result of the observation checklist and field notes as qualitative data in cycle 1 and cycle 2, the students are increased in every meeting when the researcher are doing the implementation of Flashcard. In the quantitative data, the students are increased in the cycle 2, and the result of the questionnaire is improved after the researcher applies for the Flashcard in the class. This can be seen from the average score of the students' vocabulary test where the initial score was 42,8, and the second cycle was 76,5. This means that there is an increase in the vocabulary mastery flashcards to the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 03 Bengkayang. In addition, students' learning motivation also improve after implementing flashcard learning media in cycles I and II which can be seen from
the questionnaire on the last day. In conclusion, the use of flashcards as learning media can improve students' vocabulary mastery and motivation to the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 03 Bengkayang.
