Abstract
This research was conducted to find out how to improve students’ speaking skill by using Canva in the Academic Year 2022/2023. It used Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research used observation sheet, field note and speaking
test. The subjects of this research were 31 students of eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap. Class IPA1 was chosen as the subject in this research.
Based on the research results, it is known that using Canva in learning English can improve students' speaking skills and can be well received by class XI students. They said that learning is more fun when using Canva so they were
interested in learning English, especially speaking skills. This research used observation and measurement as data collection techniques. Data collection tools in the form of observation sheet, field note, and speaking test. Then the data analysis used in this research is qualitative analysis to analyze qualitative data and quantitative analysis to analyze quantitative data.
In this research there were two cycles where in the first cycle the students still did not pay attention to the explanation of the researcher as a teacher, some of students were cannot to answer the questions given by the researcher, and the students' main score in the first cycle was 49.67 which included poor to good categories. In the second cycle there was an improve because students paid attention to the teacher's explanation, students were very active in asking
questions to the teacher, and students looked enthusiastic and interested in speaking skills using Canva and the main score of students in the second cycle was 62.83 which was in the average to excellent categories. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that using Canva in teaching and learning can improve students' speaking skills. Students give positive responses when teachers used Canva in the teaching and learning process in class. The use of Canva in learning English can make teaching and learning activities
more fun and make students interested in learning English. Using Canva is recommended in teaching and learning process.
