Abstract

The purpose of this research is formulated as follows :to find out whether the use of the learning community strategy is effective or not to teaching speaking ability in Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Tayan Hilir in the Academic
Year 2022/2023. To find out how effective is the learning community strategy to teaching speaking ability in Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Tayan Hilir in the Academic Year 2022/2023?.
The kind of this study was the experimental, the research design which was used Pre-Experimental Design with the design model One-Group Pre test and post test Design. Sampling method was conducted by using cluster random
sampling, furthemore,the graders of XI IPS 2 was chosen as the sample research, The collecting data methods that were used were test, oral test, the analyzing methods that were used were readability test, mean score individual, standard
deviation, T-test, testing hypothesis, and effect size. The result of the research shows that the pre test average score from the experimental class is 28,9, and the post test average score 33,5, it means that there is the effective result of the study that is 4,6, average effect size test is include into moderate effect that is 0,72.With the classified categories were so Ho rejected and Ha accepted. According to explanation above, the using learning community
strategy effective to teaching speaking ability for the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tayan Hilir. Suggested for the future researchers to present much
better and creative learning community strategies.
