Abstract

This research amid describe the student’s equivalence in translating English narrative text into Bahasa Indonesia in the Tenth Grades Students of SMAN 01 Sungai Kakap The purpose of this study is to describe the student’s equivalence in translating English narrative text into Bahasa Indonesia in the Tenth Grades Students of SMAN 01 Sungai Kakap in this research, the researcher will use
descriptive research as a design method and using quantitative approach. The research has analyzed the students translate of English narrative text and the result will be grouped by formal equivalence, dynamic equivalence. In dynamic equivalence 6 students (18,75%) have readable translation, 25 students (78,13%) have less readable translation and 1 student (3,13%) have non readable translation. In formal equivalence 30 students (93,75%) have accuracy translation, 2 students (6,25%) have less accuracy translation and 0 student (0%) have non accuracy translation. The statement in questionnaire have different result in documentation this mean students more likely to use literal translation in translating the narrative
text by naturally.
