The main finding in this research that the students do like to learn English
by using English movies. Other than that, they also believe that this media of
learning attracts their attention because it can provide knowledge about the
language and this is an interesting media to practice listening skills. The students
also believe that dialogues in the movie can be used in daily conversations and
they feel happy practice their listening skills and get new knowledge by using
English movies.
Therefore, the student’s perception toward watching english movies to
improve their listening skill has positive perception. Students believe that
watching English movies will help them to become better listeners and understand
foreign speech more readily. This finding is in line with a study by Tahir and
Hamakarim (2015) that report by watching movies the students can improve
language skill, as well as improving familiarity with native speakers or foreigners.
However, they still found it difficult to listen to dialogues in the movie when the
actors speak rather fast. Students also have excitement to use English movies
when practicing listening skills. This finding is in line with a study by Pamungkas
(2020) that report watching English movie activity is interesting to be used
because students are easy to get bored when they have listening activity without
visual media.
