Abstract
The kind of this study was the experimental, the research design which was used was Pre-Experimental Design with the design model One-Group Pre test and post test Design. The population in this research was all of the X graders,
339 students. Sampling method was conducted by using cluster random sampling, furthemore,the graders of X MPK 1 was chosen as the sample research. The collecting data methods that were used were test, oral test, the analyzing
methods that were used were readability test, mean score individual, standard deviation, T-test, testing hypothesis, and effect size. The result of the research shows that the pre test average score from the experimental class is 29,6, and the post test average score 34, it means that there is the effective result of the study that is 4,4, average effect size test is include into moderate effect that is 0,70 with the classified categories were so Ho rejected and Ha accepted. According to explanation above, the using retelling animated video effective to teaching speaking ability for the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Pontianak. Suggested for the future researchers to present much better and creative retelling animated video.
