Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out how can Powerpoint Improve Students‟ Reading Skill to the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 03 Sungai Kakap in the academic year of 2021/2022. The class consists of 25 students. The research
methodology of this research was classroom action research. It consisted of two cycles. In the first cycle consisted of two meetings and the second cycle consisted of 2 meetings. The step of this research was planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. This research focused on solving students' problem in reading skill. The techniques of data collection were observation and measurement technique. In this research, the researcher used observation checklist and field notes as tools in observation. Then, reading test was used in measurement. There were two kinds of s of data, they were qualitative and quantitative data. The research findings showed that powerpoint media could improve students in reading skills. It could be seen from observation checklist and field note which showed the students' participation, students motivation, and students interaction that has changed during teaching learning process. Then, the students' reading skill was also improved. In the first cycle, the mean score was 53,92. It was classified as poor level. In the second cycle, the score was 65,6. It was classified good level. From these results, it could be concluded that powerpoint media could improve students' reading skill. Therefore, the researcher suggest an English teacher to use powerpoint media on improving students' reading skill in process learning.
