Abstract

The objectives of this study are to describe the learning needs analysis for young learners in Kampung cerdas program and to reveal the feasibility of the module that has been made for teaching English in Kampung cerdas program.This
research useful for developing English learning activities by providing modules as media and teaching materials for a better learning process.The research variable of this research is only English learning material.This research is only conducted at the Kampung Cerdas program.The following terms used in this research are material developnment, English learning material and young learners.
The type of this study is Research and Development (R&D). This research was carried out in the Kampung cerdas program located in Rusunawa Jl. Harapan Jaya Kec. Pontianak Selatan.The instruments used in this research were the
interview and expert evaluation questionnaire. The subjects of this research were young learners. For data analysis, researcher use descriptive analysis technique to analyse data from interview and use a statistical method to analyse data from questionaire.The procedures of this research are problem analysis,information gathering,designing product, design validation,design revision,product tiral and product revision.In this research,researcher conducted interview with teracher to obtain information related to student learning needs.The researcher then designed the module and submited it to media experts to test its feasibility using an expert judgment questionnaire.After being judged worthy by media expert,researcher printed the product in limited quantities for useby teacher and students.The researcher then asked for suggestions and feedback from the teacher and students by using questionnaire.
The result of the needs analysis is that the English learning process in the Kampung Cerdas program requires a suplementary teaching module that can support the process of learning English. Researcher have developed a product in the
form of an English learning module that is tailored to the needs of the learning process. The steps taken by the researcher including analyze potentials and problems, collect information, product design, design validation, design improvement, product trials, and product revisions. The results from the expert judgment showed that the English learning module was in the proper category with a score of 3,0 from the media expert and 3.04 from the teacher in the "good" category.
