This research to find out about the difficulties in writing thesis and factors difficulties in writing thesis faced by students at the eighth semester of English education study program at IKIP PGRI Pontianak in the academic year of 2021/2022. The method used was a method qualitative. The techniques of data collection are direct communication technique. The tools of data collection are observation sheet and interview guideline. The subject in this study is the students at the eighth semester of English education study program. Technique of data analysis namely making a transcript in the form of text from the results of observation, and interviews recorded.
The results showed that, firstly, the difficulties in writing the thesis faced by the eighth semester students of the English education study program at IKIP PGRI Pontianak was the difficulty in determining the title of the research, the introduction, the discussion section, the closing section, and there was three students who argued that the difficulties in bibliography writing section. Second, the results of the study indicate that the factors of difficulty in writing the thesis faced by students are psychological, sociocultural, and linguistic factors.The conclusion is about the difficulties faced by students in writing thesis and the factors faced by students in writing thesis.
