Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to determine the implementation of using translated local legend in language learning of English at Sungai Deras English Village. This research contained 3 students of Sungai Deras English Village as a subject of the research where 3 students were chosen through purposeful sampling.
Indirect communication and documentation were selected as techniques of data collection. On the other hand, the tools of this research used are field notes, students‟ texts, questionnaires, and documentation. Field notes are considered important because it relates to the standard criteria for reporting qualitative research which is descriptive and contains the researcher's interpretation and also questionnaires are tools that are usually used to collect data from respondents such as data from the staff of the village and the local authority. Student texts in this
study were used as a tool in the learning process in order to know the progress of student learning, and also documentation in the form of video/audio recordings used to support research.
The results of data analysis showed that in the process of learning English which students‟ texts serves as a complement for tutor to students for learning whose students learn about the legend that they never heard before and also learn new vocabulary. Learning activities using translated local legends in the teaching and learning activities produce a good impact and help in the process of learning
English.
