Abstract
English is a foreign language for Indonesian learners. With the existence of the Lubuk Tajau English Village, researchers teach English as a second language to young learners in the context of non-formal education. This study
aims to how Translated Local Legend could be used to teach students of the English Village of Lubuk Tajau. This study used a case study research design to achieve the research objectives. First, collect data using field notes, including audio recordings. The data analysis technique used is text analysis using a functional grammar framework and thematic analysis. The elaboration began with four-stage of Teaching consisting of 4 steps: building field knowledge, modeling, joint construction, and independent construction. The use of translated local legends plays an essential role in assisting the students in improving students comprehension skills and can improve students English vocabulary.
